Friday Night Fun!

Anne and Michelle came over for dinner Friday night and were able to spend some quality time with Alice. Even though evening time is her fussy time, she settled down and was pretty good company. She has seen a lot of Anne and Michelle this week at Trinity and looks forward to meeting Julia, the last member of the coaching staff, and cheering on the field hockey team from the sidelines this fall.

Alice meets Ryan

Yesterday Julia and Andy stopped by the office to introduce their son Ryan to Alice. Ryan is 6 weeks younger than Alice but the two had a terrific time getting to know eachother. They hung out on a beautiful blanket made by Naomi Remes and we were able to snap a few pictures of the young couple!

Lulled to sleep...

Reeves has begun to play the piano for Alice in hopes of keeping her quiet/happy. The pictures below show his most recent attempt - a quiet sleeping baby!

no more fish...

as you may have noticed my sidebar decoration of swimming fish is gone. while i thought it was cute and added a whimsical element to the page, it apparently made people think the page contained some kind of virus, or was in someway 'creepy.' as i explained to kristi, it's real intent was to generate some commentary from those viewing the page, because i so rarely receive feedback on my posts of alice, i thought this strange addition would get people talking. i guess i've learned my lesson - i should have just asked and avoided the fish altogether. either way, the fish, sadly, are gone for good!

Tailgating in VT

Alice, Isabel and Luke posing for the camera!
For our last road trip of the summer, we headed to Vermont, to the Robbie Leggett's for the much talked about tailgating party. We were on 'Team Hokie' and represented Josh's alma mater Virginia Tech by wearing matching tie dyed shirts (courtesy of JP). Our uniforms were so creative and impressive that we took home the gold in the 'Best Uniform' category (I think we owe this primarily to the babies wearing hokie onesies!). It was a great day - one of the best Leggett theme parties yet!

Unfortunately, Alice was inside napping when we had our team pic!

Alice fraternizing with the enemy!

Trying to bribe the judges!

I think she's got this one in the bag!

Tuckered after a long day of competition!

Bedtime

Reeves and I have developed a bedtime routine of reading Alice some C.S. Lewis each night. While she doesn't have a great appreciation for the stories right now, it makes putting her down much more enjoyable for us! Here are just a few shots of Alice getting sleepy with her Daddy.

What a Slumber!

Alice slept through the entire night last night - seven and a half hours! We are thrilled and hoping for more of these marathon sleep sessions in the very near future. So exciting...

Below is Alice enjoying her mobile time. I was finally able to get the internet to cooperate enough to download this short video. She is really working on her voice!

A few randoms...

It's been a pretty low key month. Reeves just finished up his second summer course so we are enjoying his first (and last) obligation free week of the summer. We are excited to be heading up to VT this weekend for the much talked about tailgating party.

Here are just a few pictures of Alice hanging out with her folks and trying out her Bumbo seat. Enjoy!

Loving the Mobile!

Alice is working on her observation skills and currently really enjoys staring up at her mobile. Here are some pictures from today around nap time.

Another social engagement...

Yesterday, Alice and I ventured over to Guilford, CT for my friend Dalton's baby shower. Alice must be setting some kind of record for socializing (and traveling) at an early age - here's the running tally for Alice's young life: 1 wedding (VT), 2 bachelorettes (CT, MA), and 2 baby showers (MA, CT). That's a pretty impressive rap sheet if you ask me! And amazingly she has been on her best behavior at all 5 events. Reeves and I are a little worried we are creating a party animal!

We had a great time at Dalton's shower. The weather was beautiful and it's always a treat to visit the Cox's beautiful spot in Guilford. Alice was very pleased to meet another Alice (Dalton's sister) who was very helpful in taking care of little Alice all afternoon. Big Alice was even able to get a few smiles out of the little one!! A funny side note - Alice Cox's roommate this fall is named Patricia! We thought that must be a good sign.

Dalton looked great and we are now just anxiously awaiting the arrival of her little girl so that Alice can meet her new friend.

While I wasn't able to snap any pictures during the shower here are a few from this morning. Alice is all smiles in the morning - it's such a pleasant way to start the day (even if it is at 6am).
I think she knows how cute she is!
It's actually difficult to get Alice to smile
sometimes with the light from the flash
distracting her. Here is a failed attempt.

We are looking forward to catching up with our VT relatives next weekend.

The latest...

Alice had an orthopedic appointment on Wednesday and apparently there is still no cause for concern regarding her flipper foot. It's coming around, although has not completely righted itself to date. We have been reassured that it will work itself out in the next few months so we are hoping that we continue to see improvement. We'll keep you posted...

Other than the foot update, Alice has had a very low key week after returning from Maine. She slept poorly our first night back but last night was terrific. She seemed to get back to her four hour stretch in the early part of the night, and then followed it up by a nice three hour stretch. 7 hours of sleep is pretty great these days!

Ohh....she is now entering her fussy part of the day...better go entertain. See if we can get any of those cute smiles to come out. From the looks of it that may be a real challenge!!

Family time in the Vacationland!

We had a wonderful visit to Maine. Alice had a chance to visit with both sets of her grandparents and her great grandmother Alice. The weather was terrific, the food was superb and the company was pretty good, too! While Alice is still a little small for the water activities, the rest of us were able to enjoy some kayaking, sailing and swimming. It was a relaxing time for all - even though sleeping wasn't a priority for everyone (or at least one little one).

Fun at the dinner table!

Alice snoozing in the shade

Grandma Ali and Reeves taking in the view!

Carolyn and Sue headed out the kayaks!

Alice is continuing to reach new benchmarks everyday. She is much more conversational than ever and her smiles are a plenty now. She is a true joy to be around! We are thrilled that there are a few more weeks left in summer for us to enjoy her before one of us has to go back to work!!

Go RED SOX!

Alice thought the Red Sox could use some extra support against the Yankees. Here she is cheering on the Sox for this afternoon's game! (check out those booties!)

Spiky!

Alice woke up this morning with spiky hair! Very cute. She had a doctor's appointment yesterday and was 11lbs 10 oz. She had a couple of shots but was a real trooper. Cried but was quickly consoled. She is sleeping better and more consistently which we love! We are excited to get back up to Maine this weekend where she'll have time with two of her great grandmothers and all four grandparents. Should be lots of fun for the little one!

Alice was so excited to get a visit from her Aunt Kristi. She was full of smiles the whole time! In fact, she had her best night of sleep - 6 straight hours and then 3 more on top of that. We are negotiating with Kristi for an extended stay but unfortunately it doesn't look like it's going to happen!

Here are some pictures Aunt Kristi took of Alice. The one on the left shows her "dancing" in her bouncy seat. On the right we have a BIG stretch!

A Beautiful Day

Here are a few pictures of Alice in the backyard from today. It's a beautiful day here in CT -verging on too warm but finally much less humid. We took advantage of the good weather by getting outside which is remarkably hard to do these days. Alice loves to look at her surroundings - especially outside! She is quite comfortable laying on her "Trinity Quilt" - a gift from her Bantam buddies!
Always taking note of her surroundings - she's quite an inquisitive girl!
Mom insisted this last one be taken although Alice does not love to have things on her head. There were several takes of this shot and by the end she was not very happy with her mother!

Too good to be true...

Alice was up to her old tricks last night. Had a nice long stretch of being awake between 1-4 and now she's sleeping the day away! Visiting the pediatrician tomorrow so we are hopeful that she can give us some tricks to get little Alice on track and sleeping on a more sane schedule. She's still pretty cute, though!

Below is a funny picture of Alice as she begins to experiment with her voice. She is trying to 'talk' more and more each day. It's very cute!

Sleep...FINALLY!

Alice gave us a nice break last night and only got up once during the night. It was quite a change from the previous week's sleep schedule and we are really hoping the trend continues...!

Gotta love the weekend!

Alice is loving her Saturday morning!
