September
September has been a really nice month for all of us. The weather has been spectacular and the girls have been so much fun! We had a trip to VT a couple weekends ago, Alice started swimming lessons and Dana turned 2! Today is picture day at school so we have a few photos from that too!
Dana watching the live feed of the Bowdoin/Middlebury field hockey game. She was surprisingly very engaged in it. Perhaps we have an athlete or maybe even another coach on our hands!
This was Dana's first (and currently ONLY) successful trip to the potty! We are just starting to work on this with a little more routine. We'll see how much progress is made in the next couple months!
High five for Dana and Alice! That's a wrap!
We look forward to more fall fun in October. Alice has been very busy lately making books for her sister and her friends. She made Dana a book called, "What Leafdrip likes to Eat." Leafdrip is a bug who likes to eat broccoli and play with doggies. She is currently working on books for her friends Izzy and Caroline about who they like to play with. She is also obsessed with her fairy house in her room. In fact, she just drew a very nice picture of it today at school that her teacher hung up on the wall!
Dana is really into her dolls. Ron and Nikki gave her a wonderful new doll for her birthday and she LOVES it. She had such a meltdown yesterday when I told her doll couldn't go with her to school that her teacher's decided they could make an exception for her birthday. SO her new doll got to spend a whole day at school with Dana. She couldn't have been happier!
Sure we came to pick apples, but why not take home a giant pumpkin, too?!
Momere has moved to the Porter nursing home so we've all been trying to fill her days with visits. We ran into Casey, Marc and Henry and Sue and Crock when we were there to say hello. Momere can't see much but she can see those big "bright" eyes of Henry! What a cutie!
Hugs for Grandma Net before leaving VT. Looking forward to hearing how Net's visit to Montana is going!
Can you say "excited"?
Pure enthusiasm. Love this picture!
Maybe next year, Dana...
The famous starfish move!
Oh boy. The swimming lessons were amazing. Alice loved being in the water and absolutely loved achieving success with some of the things she learned. She was incredible at the starfish floating and just couldn't get enough of being in the water. She can "swim" she just can't keep her head out of the water when she does it (not sure that counts). Regardless, it's neat to see how accomplished and comfortable she is in the water given her, dare I say (forgive me, Gumma) clumsy nature on the ground. We are really looking forward to the next session of swimming tonight!Dana watching the live feed of the Bowdoin/Middlebury field hockey game. She was surprisingly very engaged in it. Dana's Birthday Party!
All dressed up for picture day!

Painting!
Labor Day weekend was long, rainy and muggy! By Monday the girls were bouncing off the walls so we had to take drastic measures and green light some painting. They loved it - there are a few masterpieces hanging up around our house now! It did require an immediate bath time after finishing but it was fun and they certainly both got their creative juices following!

Camping: Take 1
So
we thought - since Alice and Dana are on vacation from school this week
- that it was the perfect time to try out our new tent and do some
backyard camping. We set up the tent, brought in sleeping pads,
sleeping bags, pillows, even a pack n' play!
Yum Yum....hot dogs and hamburgers!
Surprise face...it's my favorite!
Time for s'mores!
Dana thoroughly enjoyed her s'more but Alice decided that marshmallows were not for her - instead she had chocolate bar in between graham crackers...um, okay.
Bedtime
stories! Alice was telling us the story of Abby Yoyo. If you're ever
interested in being entertained by Alice, ask her to tell you this
story. It's great!
So
we had everyone out in the tent at 8pm and here is how the rest of the
night went. Dana cried in the pack n' play until we took her inside and
put her in her crib around 8:15pm. Alice tossed and turned and took
three trips to the bathroom until announcing at 9pm that the ground was
lumpy and she wanted to sleep inside. So no one actually camped out but
we had a blast! Take 1 complete. We'll see if Take 2 produces anything
that more closely resembles actual camping!
