The latest on Alice...
Hi Everyone. I know Alice installments are few and far between these days but I finally have some time to fill you in on the adventures of Alice! She is doing well. A little sick with a cough, but getting better. She really has had only one bad nights' sleep, which Grandma Sue was lucky enough to witness!! Other than that, she's talking a lot. Her favorite word right now is "bubbles" - to be expanded on below. She is having a great time at daycare, especially now that the weather is improving and they are going out to the playground and for walks more consistently. The first few pictures are from a theme week at school where everyday was something different. I took these after she came back from crazy hair day. She went to school with my version of crazy hair (ie. bed head) and came home with a much more fun take on it!
CRAZY HAIR DAY at school!
It was a very impressive look!
We had a very low key Easter which was nice for us. We played with our Easter basket toys for a little bit and then went to the local park where Alice LOVED going down the slide by herself. She would get down and then sprint back to the stairs, climb up again, and run right back over to the top of the slide. She definitely burned some calories running the route a few times!
Happy Easter!
She loved the new crayons from the Easter bunny and especially loved blowing bubbles! She must have said "Bubbles" about a hundred times that day!! It's her new favorite thing to do!
The last few pics are from today. It's always hard to get a picture of her when I'm home alone with her and she just wants to play with the camera. But she was easily distracted by her lacrosse stick, which she loves. She plays with it at least once a day and constantly brings over the second stick to one of us to play with her. She hasn't mastered cradling, catching or throwing, but she does have a very unique way of going about ground balls!
Getting ready for school!
Playing some lax before we leave for the day.
Gearing up for our last regular season game of the year of Friday and then the playoffs begin! Can't believe we are closing in on the last few weeks of the season...

April is here!
Wow...it's hard to believe that April is here and there is a fresh coat of snow on the ground! What the heck?! Alice didn't seem to mind it when she looked out the window this morning. She has been in remarkably good spirits this week. Her lingering cough has departed for the time being which is great. She is healthy and happy and still an incredibly picky eater!!

Since I haven't posted in awhile, here are a couple of pictures from this morning. Daycare has been faithfully doing her hair while I was traveling so today I decided to give them the day off and give her some pig tails. Pretty cute!

Alice has been really talkative lately. She had a five minute conversation with Grandpa Gogo last night and then said a very clear "I love you" to both her grandparents. I have been having the best time with her this week. Have a good weekend!

The Rainy Season is here!
This will probably be my only opportunity to post for awhile so I thought I should take advantage. We just got back from a short, but very nice trip to VT. It made us feel a lot better about the weather in CT as they just got DUMPED on! The weather delayed our trip by about 24 hours but we did manage to get up to Midd on Monday night and returned to CT on Wednesday. Alice was so excited to see her grandparents and loved playing with Cooper and Isabel. We were sorry it was such a short visit.

The rainy season is upon us in CT. Alice fished her boots out of the closet last night. Just in time for our nasty, wet weather today and tomorrow! She loved walking around the house in them. Thanks to our Maine cousins for the rain gear!

Have a happy Thursday!

February Update!
We've had a busy few weeks in CT. The beginning of lacrosse season hit us like a ton of bricks last week. It was a pretty substantial shock to the system. Needless to say, there were several early to bed evenings and almost no home cooked meals. We survived. This week we are a little more conditioned and ready for the week ahead...hopefully.

PIGTAILS!

Some good news from us is that we have found an AWESOME babysitter for Alice on the nights that she has to stay at Trinity and wait for me to finish practice. Her babysitter is named Ali, so it's super easy for her to say, and after only a couple meetings, it's pretty clear that Alice loves Ali! I can't say what a relief it is to know that she is so content with her babysitter. And Ali is so great with Alice! With all the stress that the season brings, it's just incredibly nice to know that Alice will be well entertained when we can't be with her.
Other than that, Alice is up to her usual tricks. She has developed a real obsession with hats (baseball, winter, you name it - she'll put it on!). Her favorite is her Dad's Trinity lacrosse hat that is much too big even for me (that's not saying much) so Alice prefers to wear it backwards.

Her eating is a constant source of frustration as she is very unadventurous about trying new things. She likes a few things and really never varies her diet. I think it's incredibly boring, but at least there are a few items that we know she'll eat. Yesterday, she surprised us and enjoyed dipping a nacho into salsa and licking the salsa off of it. So many we won't be stuck in this rut forever...let's hope!
Alice has been to the doctor a fair amount over the last couple of weeks. She's had a lingering cough that we had the doctor look at. After some medication it seemed to come right back so she's on something a bit stronger now (just started it yesterday) and we are hoping that does the trick. We'll keep you posted.
Other than that, she's doing great. She has recently become the best hugger that I know, which is pretty awesome. She gives me a great hug before I leave her at daycare and then I get a barrage of hugs after bath time when we are getting our PJs on. Best part of my day.

These last two photos were from this morning! Alice is sporting a new hoodie!
Hope everyone has a good week!

Trip to DC!
So we made it! YAY! We had a great time visiting Leah, Brian and Judah in DC. It was a little bit of a hectic trip down - I think made worse by my anticipation of flying alone with Alice for the first time.
Everything was going great until we landed in Baltimore. Alice was pretty sick of sitting at that point and very tired as she had skipped her nap that day. While waiting for our checked bag, she refused to be in the stroller anymore so I let her get out. Big mistake - seconds later she was on the floor crying, after having tripped and hit her head. This was a pretty bad fall so it took several LONG minutes before she recovered.
It wasn't until Alice and I went over to a quiet corner to fully recover from her fall, when I realized that I didn't have my phone on me. I had left it on the plane! I couldn't believe it. I was panicking. Well, we waited for about 20 minutes to find out that we were out of luck, they couldn't find the phone. We finally collected our bag and headed to the shuttle for the rental car - another thing I was dreading to do with Alice!

Once we were outside, waiting for the shuttle to the rental car, things started to turn around. Alice and I went walking up and down the sidewalk, which seemed to keep her very happy. Once at the rental car facility, it was a quick pick up, they had a good, clean car seat that was easy to install. I was still a little panicked about not having a phone but I had directions and thankfully they were good directions! We got to Leah's a little after 6:30pm. We were more than excited to have made it! Leah was relieved too, as she was starting to panic having not heard from us since we were about to take off!
It was great to finally meet Judah! He is such a sweet, happy, easy going baby. Alice seemed like a giant around him. She definitely gave Leah and Brian a healthy dose of toddler hood, which I'm sure made them appreciate the quiet time that they have with Judah now!
Alice loved the dogs. Dustin and Parker were both very tolerant of her petting, grabbing and walking on. At first she would tell them "No" (I think this was carry over from winter break when she learned to say "no" to dogs at meal time), but, she really warmed up to them and by the end of the weekend she kept saying, "Hi, Doggies!" every time she saw them. It was pretty cute.
We had a wonderful time on Sunday at the Building Museum. It was this terrific open space for kids to run around. There were neat little work stations where Alice played. We started out in the lego section and then found these awesome soft blocks that she LOVED walking on. It was the highlight for her for sure. I had so much fun watching her play. She could not have been more excited walking on the blocks and then falling off of them into my arms. It was a great way to cap off the trip.

And the trip home was smooth! YAY! Alice was terrific and Dad met us at the gate which made her(and me) very happy!

Another Snow Day!
Another snow day in CT. We probably have about 40 inches piled up on the ground. It is ridiculous! But we made the most of it on Thursday and had fun playing outside. It was actually quite a beautiful day when the snow stopped and the sun came out! Alice is doing very well. Her latest activity is humming the alphabet song - in her own version of course. But we can detect certain sections of it which is pretty cool. She also loves singing her favorite songs...baa baa black sheep, row row row your boat, etc. All in all she is tons of fun right now!

We are leaving shortly for a trip to DC. Just me and Alice so I'm a little nervous! We'll keep you posted!
