Fun at the Park

Ok...so it's been awhile since I've posted. Can you tell the school year just started? I've been encouraged to update things so here it is!

Alice had her first full week back at school. It's been hard on her mother, but I think she's happy to be back in a routine. We had a quick visit from Grandma Carolyn last night which was awesome. A much need visit as Reeves and I were juggling both a soccer and field hockey game.

The latest news with Alice is that she will be moving up to the toddler room at daycare. We just received a phone call yesterday proposing the idea of 'transitioning' to the older classroom. This was oddly emotional for me. It really hit home that she is growing up and gaining more and more independence everyday. While that is of course a great development, it's a little hard to see our baby Alice not be a baby anymore. I'm not exactly sure when she'll be moving rooms, but it should be exciting and maybe a little challenging at first.

Here are some much over due pictures of Alice from a few weekends ago. Reeves discovered a park near our house which is great. Alice loved climbing up the stairs and coming down the slide in our laps. She warmed up to the swing after a few pushes! We will probably head back there tomorrow!

Back from Maine!

This was a picture we took before our trip. Just Alice being funny! She is all smiles these days...unless she wants to be held. We still haven't captured this on film but when she decides she wants to be picked up she reaches her hands in the air and gets a really pathetic look on her face. If she isn't picked up almost immediately, it gets pretty ugly!


Alice's First time on a sail boat! It was awesome! We were able to get on the water twice while on the Island. Alice was a little less tolerant the second time out but overall did a great job on the boat!

The life jacket seemed a little excessive so we let her settle into her chair and flip through her favorite spot book!

Alice loved this toy! She could press it to play music and then she would start dancing. At first she was dancing in place, which she does here. But then it developed to dancing around the room, clapping her hands and twirling. So cute!

Summer Fun!

Alice has grown SO much over the last month. She is walking like a champ these days. Almost running now that she has established better balance with her walking. She is nonstop from when she wakes up until when we put her to bed. But, because she can move so independently, she is actually much easier to entertain. She is becoming a little kid right before our eyes!

I was reminded of this at lunchtime today. I went to feed her at daycare and my heart melted when I entered the room and she was sitting like a big girl at the table with all the older boys, eating her puffs. No high chair for this growing girl! But, the highlight of the meal was 2/3rds of the way through lunch, when she became quite fussy. I thought she was just tired so I stopped trying to feed her yogurt. Well, apparently, she was just annoyed at me trying to feed her. As soon as I dropped the spoon, she picked it up and started to feed herself! She had obviously been watching the big boys and felt that she could do just as much as they could. From then on, she had a white knuckle grip of the spoon and was annoyed even when I tried to tilt her yogurt so that it was easier to spoon out! Watch out...this girl knows what she wants! And right now, she wants to be a big girl, which is pretty cool. Loving her independence!

Here are some pictures of our recent trip to Maine. We had such a great time with the Perines and the Ryans. It was so disappointing not to have the Quinns join us. Poor Isabel just couldn't kick her fever. We are hoping for a complete gathering next summer! The highlight of the weekend for the adults was the lobster (except for Karen and Reeves who enjoyed grill food instead!). But the highlight for the little girls was the whale pool! It received tons of action all weekend (even by a raccoon on the last night!).
