Strawberry Picking!

We had a great time strawberry picking in Harwinton, CT yesterday. It was a pretty low key setting - not a huge crowd which was nice. Alice preferred to run up and down the rows of berries so Reeves kept an eye on her while I did most of the picking. While it wasn't the easiest picking I've ever done - you had to really hunt around for a decent berry - we did end up with a pretty tasty tray of strawberries!

Now that Alice's cast is off the pool is back! She enjoyed stomping around in the pool yesterday and splashing mom and dad!

Summer Fun

Hey everyone. Thanks for all your emails and calls about Alice. She is doing remarkably well with her cast. The only trouble is keeping her at a slow pace since she is desperate to run around and get her energy out. She is trying with her cast (and is actually very efficient getting around on it) but she gets very frustrated with the little boot and shoe that she has to keep on constantly. We are all very happy this cast only lasts a week!

We had a good weekend. Reeves has been incredible getting projects started (and finished!) around the house. Alice's new room is pretty much ready for her to move into! She seems to really like it, so we are hopeful it's a smooth transition. We are just waiting for the cast to come off before we make the move.

We've also begun our basement renovation - all the carpet is out, painting is nearly done, so all that is left is the floor. We're hoping to make some good progress in the next week before Reeves starts his summer course.

We had some helpful hands on deck this weekend, with Gogo and Grumma making the trip down to CT! Alice loved having the extra attention and we were very appreciative to have the extra hands helping us with our projects! As a bonus, she got her first ever haircut when out shopping with Grumma!

First Broken Bone!

Well, it's been an eventful - or sort of non-eventful week for us. Since Alice has been limping around, we've been house bound for a week or so. After about 9 days of wondering why she is limping, we finally got to the bottom of it yesterday. She has a small break (that's actually already started to heal) in her lower left leg. It's not the typical "toddler fracture" that we assumed it was but something a little more to the outside of her leg. Hard to know if she banged into something with a bit of force, or if she did this jumping off of something. Anyway, the cast is on for a week or so and she is already becoming a very efficient cast walker!

"I TWO"

Alice had a great actual birthday celebration. She spent the day with her buddies at daycare. I managed to get a picture of her holding cupcakes outside of school. I figured there is no way she'll tolerate photo sessions in the parking lot before school much longer, so I went for it. After school, we went out to dinner which she seemed to enjoy (probably not as much as Reeves and I did!). The highlight of the day was Alice learning to respond to the question, "How old are you?" She has a very solid response of "I two" down. Above is a picture from her birthday and then below are a couple from today. She has an adorable golfing outfit on and I couldn't resist posting it! Too bad she is being so goofy in the pictures!

Early Birthday Celebration!

We celebrated Alice's Birthday a couple of days early this year. With a busy week of wrapping things up at Trinity and KO it didn't look like we could get many festivities in during the week so we took advantage of the holiday weekend and devoted Monday to Alice's Birthday celebration. We presented her with her little tikes car in the morning. She loved it and it occupied her for several hours, allowing us our most relaxing morning in quite some time!! We then treated her to a new teddy bear (bobo) which she built at the build-a-bear workshop. We waited until after nap time to do the rest of the present opening. She definitely enjoyed a day devoted to her, where she got a new gift at nearly every phase of the day. Here are some pics to recap...

This picture was nearing the end of her morning entertainment. She was so busy running around and playing that she was sweating through her PJS, thus the shirtless, crazy hair look!

This is Alice putting not one, but TWO hearts in her bear at the build-a-bear shop.

It was a great day!! Alice clearly enjoyed her birthday as Reeves caught her singing the happy birthday song to herself at 4am this morning. It was short lived but SO FUNNY!
